LEARN TO PLAY JAMBOREE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 14TH
When: Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 9:00am to 5:00pm
Where: St. Michael`s College School Arena
Overview: Each LTP team will play one 45 minute game during the tournament. With the Hockey Canada mandated modified ice-surface, teams will be playing either cross-ice or half-ice depending on the skill level of the players. Generally four or five players plus a goalie (a player using a goalie stick) will be on the ice or each 3 or 5 minute buzzer shift. Face-offs at center ice will occur at the start of each shift and after a goal is scored; there will be no other face-offs as the referees will simply throw the puck back into play when the goaltenders make a save. While the score will be displayed on the scoreboard, it will be deleted after the game and will not be recorded anywhere. Players should have their full equipment on and be ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their game – the games will start on time. Feel free to come early to watch another game so as to know what to expect in the game.
Trophies: Every player will receive a trophy and a Tim Horton’s gift following their game. Trophies will be presented in the dressing room (except for St. Mike’s LTP players who will receive their trophies on March 24th).
Parent Reminders: Remember this is a FUN tournament – the players always have a blast – and you should too. One parent is welcome in the dressing room to tie their player’s skates, but we encourage all parents to proceed to the stands to cheer all players during the games. Remember to yell encouragement, not instructions from the stands (as players rarely hear what is actually shouted); we sincerely appreciate your co-operation on this matter. High school student volunteers and the coaches will assist the players on and off the ice. Everyone involved in the tournament is a volunteer, including the timekeepers and referees. Please help make the day enjoyable for all by offering to assist the volunteers in their efforts to have the proceedings run smoothly.
Pictures: Please feel free to share your digital pictures taken during any one of the Learn to Play programs. We would be pleased to receive pictures taken at the practices and/or the tournament and may use some of the best ones to share on our website. Please email pictures to Sondermeyer@rogers.com in a jpg format. Of note, we will make sure that the names of players will not appear on the photos should they be posted on the Knights’ website.
Directions: From Hwy-401, take the Bathurst Street exit and head south. The St. Michael’s College School Arena is located at 1515 Bathurst Street, Toronto directly behind St. Michael’s College School.
Parking: Parking can be an issue, so please allow sufficient time to find a space for your car.
Learn to Play Jamboree Schedule: The schedule and time can be found in the table below. Players from the York Mills and Pleasantview LTP programs are assigned to teams based on Sock and Jersey colour to give them the best possible experience. Players have been assigned based on regular practice time, current sock and/or jersey color. Some players will be given a jersey or pinnie of the correct color to wear for the game.
What is Extended LTP: This is a program for players between the ages of 8 to14 years old who were a little late starting their hockey careers.
