2026 Awards
The North York Knights Hockey Association recently handed out their awards for the 2025-2026 hockey season.
Ruthven Award
Each year a house league player(s) in his or her last year of high school is awarded the Graeme Ruthven award based on the commitment shown to their team and the association during his or her hockey career with the North York Knights. The co-winners for 2026 were Aidan Lau and Maxwel Lau. Steve Horvath, President, and Chris Garrah, Secretary of the NYKHA presented both worthy recipients the award at the end-of year party for the U16-U18 division. Congratulations to both Aidan and Max!

Tysall Volunteer Award
The David Tysall Volunteer Award is given annually to the volunteer within the Association who has generously, quietly, tirelessly and without prompting donated countless hours toward the ongoing success of the North York Knights Hockey Association. The winner for 2026 was Walter Lau, the long-serving Convenor and coach for the NYKHA. Steve Horvath, President of the NYKHA, presented the award to Walter at the recent Coaches Appreciation evening. Congratulations Walter for this richly deserved recognition!

Blessed Trinity Hockey Association Bursary
The Blessed Trinity Hockey Association was one of the original parishes that helped establish the North York Knights Hockey Association. A $500 Bursary is awarded each year by an Awards Committee from the Knights to provide financial assistance to help fund a post-secondary education for a participant in the House League program. The recipient must be a player, referee or timekeeper with the Knights House League, must be in their final year of high school, and must have applied to a post-secondary education or technical apprenticeship starting in the Fall. The Bursary recipient will have expressed insight into the value of belonging to the North York Knights Hockey Association, shown ongoing dedication to volunteering and demonstrated a strong commitment to their studies. The winner for 2026 was Colin Lee. Steve Horvath, President of the NYKHA, presented the Bursary at the end-of year party for the U16-U18 division. Congratulations Colin!
