LEARN TO PLAY JAMBOREE
ON SATURDAY APRIL 1ST, 2023
When: Saturday, April 1st, 2023 from 7:00am to 2:00pm
Where: Pleasantview Arena, 545 Van Horne Avenue, North York
Overview: Each LTP team will play two 21-24 minute games during the Jamboree. With the Hockey Canada mandated modified ice-surface, teams will be playing cross-ice at this year’s Jamboree. Generally three, four or five players plus a goalie (a player using a goalie stick) will be on the ice for each 3 minute buzzer shift. Face-offs will occur at the start of each shift; there will be no other face-offs as the referees will simply throw the puck back into play when the goaltenders make a save. While the score will be displayed on the scoreboard, it will be deleted after the game and will not be recorded anywhere. Players should have their full equipment on and be ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their game – the games will start on time. Feel free to come early to watch another game so as to know what to expect in the game.
Trophies: Every player will receive a trophy and a Tim Horton’s gift following their game. Trophies will be presented in the dressing room.
Parent Reminders: Remember this is a FUN tournament – the players always have a blast – and you should too. One parent is welcome in the dressing room to tie their player’s skates, but we encourage all parents to proceed to the stands to cheer all players during the games. Remember to yell encouragement, not instructions from the stands (as players rarely hear what is actually shouted); we sincerely appreciate your co-operation on this matter. High school student volunteers and the coaches will assist the players on and off the ice. Everyone involved in the tournament is a volunteer, including the timekeepers and referees. Please help make the day enjoyable for all by offering to assist the volunteers in their efforts to have the proceedings run smoothly.
Pictures: Please feel free to share your digital pictures taken during any one of the Learn to Play programs. We would be pleased to receive pictures taken at the practices and/or the tournament and may use some of the best ones to share on our website. Please email pictures to robertsondermeyer@gmail.com in a jpg format. Of note, we will make sure that the names of players will not appear on the photos should they be posted on the Knights’ website.
Directions: From Hwy-401, take Victoria Park North then make a left on Van Horne Avenue
Parking: Parking can be an issue, so please allow sufficient time to find a space for your car. If the arena parking is full, there is some street parking nearby on streets.
