LEARN TO PLAY JAMBOREE ON APRIL 4TH
When: Saturday, April 4, 2020 from 9:00am to 5:00pm
Where: St. Michael’s College School Arena
Overview: Each LTP team will play two 20-25 minute games during the tournament. Given the mandate by Hockey Canada to have a modified ice-surface, teams will be playing their games cross-ice at the Jamboree. Generally, three to five players plus a goalie (a player using a goalie stick) will be on the ice for each 3 or 5 minute buzzer shift. Face-offs will occur at the start of each shift; there will be no other face-offs as the referees will simply throw the puck back into play when the goaltenders make a save. While the score will be displayed on the scoreboard, it will be deleted after the game and will not be recorded anywhere. Players should have their full equipment on and be ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their game – the games will start on time. Feel free to come early to watch another game so as to know what to expect in the game.
York Mills Players: The following is a listing of all players that skate in the York Mills Learn to Play program and the times at which their games will be played and when the player is expected to arrive at St. Mike’s arena. Please click on the following link to view the listing: LTP Jamboree Player Listing York Mills Arena 2020.
Trophies: Every player will receive a trophy and a Tim Horton’s gift following their game. Trophies will be presented in the dressing room (except for St. Mike’s LTP players who will receive their trophies at their last regular session).
Parent Reminders: Remember this is a FUN tournament – the players always have a blast – and you should too. One parent is welcome in the dressing room to tie their player’s skates, but we encourage all parents to proceed to the stands to cheer all players during the games. Remember to yell encouragement, not instructions from the stands (as players rarely hear what is actually shouted); we sincerely appreciate your co-operation on this matter. High school student volunteers and the coaches will assist the players on and off the ice. Everyone involved in the tournament is a volunteer, including the timekeepers and referees. Please help make the day enjoyable for all by offering to assist the volunteers in their efforts to have the proceedings run smoothly.
Pictures: Please feel free to share your digital pictures taken during any one of the Learn to Play programs. We would be pleased to receive pictures taken at the practices and/or the tournament and may use some of the best ones to share on our website. Please email pictures to Sondermeyer@rogers.com in a jpg format. Of note, we will make sure that the names of players will not appear on the photos should they be posted on the Knights’ website.
Directions: From Hwy-401, take the Bathurst Street exit and head south. The St. Michael’s College School Arena is located at 1515 Bathurst Street directly behind St. Michael’s College School.
Parking: Parking can be a troublesome issue due to several other activities (e.g. lacrosse games) scheduled that day at St. Michael’s College School, so please allow sufficient time to find a space for your car. Parents should also consider being dropped off with their child and then have the driver look for nearby parking. If the arena/school parking is full, there is usually some parking available on nearby streets such as Heath, Tichester, and Tweedsmuir. Please obey the street parking signs as time limits are routinely enforced by parking officers in the area. An eco-friendly option is the TTC as the St Clair West Subway stop which is a 2 minute walk from the arena.
Learn to Play Jamboree Schedule: The schedule and time can be found in the table below. Players from the York Mills and Pleasantview LTP programs are assigned to teams based on Sock and Jersey colour to give them the best possible experience. Players have been assigned based on regular practice time, current sock and/or jersey color. Some players will be given a jersey or pinnie of the correct color to wear for the game.
What is Extended LTP: This is a program for players between the ages of 8 to14 years old who were a little late starting their hockey careers.
Registering for Knights House League or Learn To Play programs for 2020-2021: Registration for next year’s hockey season will open on April 15th, 2020 at 5:00pm and will continue until the LTP/House League division is deemed to be full. The Knights Hockey Association reserves the right to close registration early for any division deemed to be full. Register early to ensure you are able to select your preferred time slot. Registration will only be available at knightshockey.org.
