Learn To Play Jamboree on March 28th, 2026
When: Saturday, March 28th, 2026 from 8:30am to 3:00pm
Where: York Mills Arena, 2539 Bayview Ave, North York
Directions: From Hwy-401, take Bayview Avenue south, turn left on York Mills Avenue; the arena is on south-east corner.
Overview: Each LTP team will play two 21-24 minute games during the Jamboree. With the Hockey Canada mandated modified ice-surface, teams will be playing cross-ice at this year’s Jamboree. Generally three, four or five players plus a goalie (a player using a goalie stick) will be on the ice for each 3 minute “buzzer” shift. Face-offs will occur at the start of each shift; there will be no other face-offs as the referees will simply throw the puck back into play when the goaltenders make a save. While the score will be displayed on the scoreboard, it will be deleted after the game and will not be recorded anywhere. Players should have their full equipment on and be ready to go at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their game – the games will start on time. Feel free to come early to watch another game to know what to expect in the game.
Trophies: Every player will receive a trophy and a Tim Horton’s gift following their game. Trophies will be presented in the dressing room.
Parent Reminders: Remember this is a FUN event – the players always have a blast – and you should too. One parent is welcome in the dressing room to tie their player’s skates, but we encourage all parents to proceed to the stands to cheer all players during the games. Remember to yell encouragement, not instructions from the stands (as players rarely hear what is shouted); we sincerely appreciate your co-operation on this matter. High school student volunteers and the coaches will assist the players on and off the ice. Everyone involved in the tournament is a volunteer, including the timekeepers and referees. Please help make the day enjoyable for all by offering to assist the volunteers in their efforts to have the proceedings run smoothly.
Pictures: Please feel free to share your digital pictures taken during any one of the Learn to Play programs. We would be pleased to receive pictures taken at the practices and/or the Jamboree and may use some of the best ones to share on our website. Please email pictures to robertsondermeyer@gmail.com in a jpg format or tag on Instagram @nykhockey. Of note, we will make sure that the names of players will not appear on the photos should they be posted on the Knights’ website.
Parking: Parking can be an issue, so please allow sufficient time to find a space for your car. If the arena parking is full, there is some street parking nearby on streets. The mall nearby has been known to issue parking tickets. Carpooling or getting dropped off at the arena may be a good option.
Learn to Play Jamboree Schedule: The schedule and time can be found in the tables below. Players from St Mikes, York Mills and Pleasantview LTP programs are assigned to teams based on Jersey colour. Players have been assigned based on regular practice time and jersey color. Some players may be lent a jersey or pinnie to balance out the numbers in each game.

Referrals: Tell your friends about the Knights! We are a volunteer-based, non-profit organization and rely on word-of-mouth to let families know about our hockey program. If you enjoyed your LTP experience, please let your friends know how much fun your child had and encourage them to sign-up for next season!
What is Extended LTP: This is a program for players between the ages of 8 to 14 years old who were a little late starting their hockey careers.
Select/All-Star/CDS (Competitive Development Stream) for 2026-2027: For players interested in playing more competitive hockey in addition to participating in the House League program, please review select.knightshockey.org for details about the Knights Select/CDS hockey program. Tryout times and the names of CDS/Select coaches for each age group will be posted on the website.
