MANDATORY TRAINING SESSION
The Knights will be hosting a mandatory training session for Learn-To-Play coaches and volunteers:
SESSION TIME AND DATE
Saturday October 5th from 11:00am – 1:10pm at Downsview Arena (1633 Wilson Ave)
Attending the session is mandatory; please complete the attached form if you can volunteer, even if you are unable to attend the session due to a conflict on Oct 5th: Knights LTP Volunteer Form
All adult on-ice volunteers must complete the mandatory Hockey Canada Speak Out classroom session or the Respect In Sport online training. Coaches will need to provide their Speak Out/Certificate Number in order to participate in the LTP sessions. The Knights will use the information provided in the Volunteer Form to ensure that the online training has been completed.
AGENDA for the SESSION
Off – Ice Instructions (45 minutes): Overview of the program, details of how practices are run, basics of instructing this age-group, instructions for the on-ice session (players will be “baby-sat” in a change room during this time – feel free to have your spouse dress the player during this time)
Ready for Ice (15 minutes): Put on skates and helmets (required)
On-Ice Training (50 minutes): Applying coaching techniques on the ice with the children of the coaches acting as LTP players (children must be registered with North York Knights and must be able to skate with a glide)
De-brief (10 minutes)
