LEARN TO PLAY JAMBOREE ON SATURDAY APRIL 23RD
When: Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 8:00am to 3:00pm
Where: Pleasantview Arena 545 Van Horne Avenue, North York
Overview: Each LTP team will play two 20-25 minute games during the Jamboree. Given the mandate by Hockey Canada to have a modified ice-surface, teams will be playing their games cross-ice or half-ice at the Jamboree. Generally, three to five players plus a goalie (a player using a goalie stick) will be on the ice for each 3 or 5 minute buzzer shift. Face-offs will occur at the start of each shift; there will be no other face-offs as the referees will simply throw the puck back into play when the goaltenders make a save. While the score is displayed on the scoreboard, it will be deleted after the game is over and it will not be recorded. Players should have their full equipment on and be ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their game – the games will start on time. Feel free to come early to watch another game so as to know what to expect in the game.
Learn to Play Jamboree Schedule: The schedule and time can be found in the table below. York Mills and Pleasantview players have been assigned to teams based on the colour of their jersey and on their regular practice time. Some players will be lent a jersey or a pinnie to balance out the number of players in each game.

Trophies: Every player will receive a trophy and a Tim Horton’s gift following their game. Trophies will be presented in the dressing room.
Parent Reminders: Remember this is a FUN tournament – the players always have a blast – and you should too. One parent is welcome in the dressing room to tie their player’s skates, but we encourage all parents to proceed to the stands to cheer all players during the games. Remember to yell encouragement, not instructions from the stands (as players rarely hear what is actually shouted); we sincerely appreciate your co-operation on this matter. High school student volunteers and the coaches will assist the players on and off the ice. Everyone involved in the tournament is a volunteer, including the timekeepers and referees. Please help make the day enjoyable for all by offering to assist the volunteers in their efforts to have the proceedings run smoothly.
Pictures: Please feel free to share your digital pictures taken during any one of the Learn to Play programs. We would be pleased to receive pictures taken at the practices and/or the tournament and may use some of the best ones to share on our website. Please email pictures to Sondermeyer@rogers.com in a jpg format. Of note, we will make sure that the names of players will not appear on the photos should they be posted on the Knights’ website.
Directions: From Hwy-401, take Victoria Park North and make a left on Van Horne Ave.
Parking: Parking can be a troublesome issue so please allow sufficient time to find a space for your car. Parents should also consider being dropped off with their child and then have the driver look for nearby parking on a residential side street.
What is Extended LTP: This is a program for players between the ages of 8 to14 years old who were a little late starting their hockey careers.
Registering for Knights House League or Learn To Play programs in 2022-2023: Registration for next year’s hockey season will open in mid-April and will continue until the LTP/House League divisions are deemed to be full. The Knights Hockey Association reserves the right to close registration early for any division deemed to be full. Register early to ensure you are able to select your preferred time slot. Registration will only be available at knightshockey.org. The Knights are a volunteer based non-profit organization and rely on word-of-mouth to promote our hockey programs. If you and your child enjoyed the experience, please share this with your friends and encourage them to sign up for next year’s hockey season!
Select Hockey for 2022-2023: For players interested in playing more competitive hockey in addition to participating in the House League program, please review select.knightshockey.org for details about the Knights Select hockey program. Tryout times and the name of Select coaches for each age group will be posted in April on the website.
